Information On Fire Suppression Systems

Fire suppression structures are developed to put out a fire and stop it from spreading. These structures are commonly employed in heavy power equipment, industries and even buildings. The most common forms of fire suppression structures include fire alarms, smoke and heat detectors. Three most used fire suppression structures use either water, inert gases or some chemicals to kill or suppress a fire. Fire suppression structures can either be automatic or manual. There are some fire suppression structures that can be dangerous to anybody that is around when it goes off.

1. Water Fire Suppression System

Water is the most common fire suppression element. The water fire suppression systems for server rooms are classified as either wet or dry. A wet one has a sprinkler system is installed and must be with water throughout. The water fire suppression system can be automatic, where it is activated by a detection of smoke or exceptionally high temperature. Dry sprinklers do not have water throughout and only work when the main water source is linked.

2. Inert Gas Fire Suppression System

An inert gas does not combust or interact with fire. This suppression system using an inert gas is best used for areas with components that could get damaged by water-like electronics. If an individual is around when the structures goes off, it can lead to asphyxiation due to lack of oxygen. The structures are therefore equipped with alarm structures which warn people to leave when it goes off. Another dander is the pressure of the compressed gas which may lead to blowing out of the walls or windows.

3. Chemicals (Wet or Dry) Fire Suppression System

Fire suppression systems using chemicals can either be wet or dry. They are mostly automatic but most come with a manual for control of the chemicals. This kind of system is best for a situation where the materials around react with water and still not suited for inert gases. Since most chemicals used in fire suppression structures are dangerous to human health, a moment is allowed for escaping the area before the system goes off.

In conclusion, fire is a good servant but the worst master. Accidents too are never predictable. It is, therefore, proper for one to equip their premise with a fire suppression system so that they can be ready to fire. Before installing a fire suppression schemes, you should consult an expert for them to advice on the best solutions.
